At  Wheatfield Pediatrics, we are committed to the health of your child for both today and the future. Our goal is to provide your child with state of the art, quality medical care while maintaining a personal and caring environment each and every time you visit our office. As pediatricians, we are in a unique position to provide you with true "primary care". In doing so we are able to prevent and identify risks for disease, disability, and injury through regular health maintenance or "wellness" visits.

Furthermore, we believe that parental education is a valuable part of a child's health as well, and we are dedicated in helping families understand their child's health issues.

We see all patients on an appointment basis, and ask that you call in advance so that we may reserve time for you.

The physicians at Wheatfield Pediatrics specialize in the care of children from birth to age 18. Our physicians, nurses and office staff are committed to providing the best possible medical care for your child in a professional, yet caring and compassionate manner.

We encourage the development of healthy lifestyles in our young patients. We perform well-child examinations and immunizations in accordance with the schedule recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. In addition, we have two lactation consultants on staff to assist nursing mothers with their special needs and concerns.Of course no one plans to have a sick child; therefore we are usually able to schedule you a "same-day" sick appointment. If you must cancel an appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance. A $30.00 service fee will be charged for all no-show appointments. Please make every effort to be on time for appointments; we will also try to see you for your appointment promptly.

Prescription refills should be requested during regular office hours. Refills will be called into your pharmacy by the end of the day.

In addition to our usual daytime hours, we also offer evening and Saturday morning hours. We encourage patients to schedule regular check ups in advance. There are various times during the year where there is a rush of requests for school physicals and sports clearance examinations. Please make sure you do not find yourself in a position, which the child cannot return to school or sports because of medical clearance. We try our best to accommodate all requests, but sometimes it may be impossible.  In the event of an emergency during hours that the office is not open, please call our main telephone number and you will be directed to our answering service who will either direct you to the provider on-call or our after hour nursing triage service through Night Nurse so you may discuss your concerns. Unless you feel your child's illness may be life threatening, we encourage parents to call us prior to seeking Emergency Room treatment.

The doctors at Wheatfield Pediatrics have hospital affiliations with the Kaleida Health System, including Children's Hospital of Buffalo and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, as well as Sisters of Charity Hospital. Should your child require more specialized care than our office can provide, we work closely with many of the various specialists and pediatric facilities throughout Western New York.

New Insurance Tips

  1. Review your insurance cards for accuracy. Make sure that all names, dates of birth and insurance ID numbers are correct and notify your insurance carrier if anything is incorrect before coming to our office to avoid any insurance rejections.
  2. Please show the receptionist upon check-in any new insurance cards you may have received.
  3. You should notify your insurance company and/or employer's human resource department as soon as possible after your baby's birth so your newborn is added to your insurance policy. Please be sure to list one of the following doctors: Joseph Wittmann, Douglas Schultz or AnnMarie Jobes and not Wheatfield Pediatrics. Listing Wheatfield Pediatrics as your child's primary care provider will delay claims processing because the insurance carriers require a specific doctor to be listed as your child's provider. Also, please note that physician referrals to specialists and medical claims will not be considered by your insurance carrier until your newborn is officially added to your insurance policy.

Please note: Please be advised that the Hospital will not notify your insurance carrier of your newborn. Any forms you may complete in the hospital are for their use only.

Payment For Services
At the end of your child's examination, the medical provider will give you an encounter form. He or she will note the type of examination, procedures, tests or medications for which you will be charged. Please stop at the "check-out" window to see if you need any future appointments. Our office is a "fee-for-service" practice and, as such, all co-payments must be paid in full when you check-in at your visit. Fees charged by our office are comparable to those charged by other Pediatricians in the area. We expect payment for services from the parent accompanying the child.  If an absent parent has financial responsibility, we must ask for payment from you and allow you to make reimbursement arrangements with the responsible party.  We accept cash, personal checks, Visa, and Mastercard.

Please bring current documentation of your health insurance coverage every time you come to the office as you must present your card at each visit. Occasionally a double co-payment is required by some insurance carriers if laboratory services are provided. Please check with your insurance carrier regarding any benefit or co-payment questions.
